Oak Class Home Learning and Weekly Learning Grid 27.04.2020

Date: 27th Apr 2020 @ 7:47am

Good morning Oak Class!

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. The weather forecast this week is a little different to what we have been seeing, but as you all know, I actually love the rain!

My husband made a little flower bed for Isla to grow some plants in and I must say, they are coming along rather nicely. Whilst the weather has been nice, she has been really eager to water them every day. I've attached a picture of her loving life! The rain will be a welcome break to filling up her tiny watering can multiple times a day.

Writing – Reflecting about transition

Whilst today’s writing task focuses predominately on the Year 6’s transition to high school, it is still applicable to the Year 5 children and their move to Year 6 /high school later next year.

Watch the following ‘daily lesson’ on BBC Bitesize:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zj2grj6

Once you have done this, create a list of the helpful tips that you have learnt. Start to think about and plan the things you might need ahead of starting your new school/class. Write a list about these too.

I would also like you to write a paragraph to reflect on your feelings about transition – what you are worried about and what you are looking forward to? It helps to get our thoughts down on paper.

When I was at university, I wrote my dissertation all about list making. It can be incredibly therapeutic, and I find it a good activity in order to help me rationalise my thinking. I hope that today’s task will help you to put any of your worries about transition at rest. If you have any questions that you want answers to, write these down as well or post them on our class blog!

For all other learning activities (including maths) please refer to our weekly learning grid which I have added to this post.

Have a lovely day everyone. Monday brings a new week and new goals!

P.s. Having checked Bug Club this morning, I would like you all to log on to this resource this week and complete a GPS activity and read one of your allocated texts. Thanks!
