Good morning Oak Class!

I hope you all had a lovely day yesterday. Isla and I had our lunch in the garden and made the most of the sunshine – it was such a gorgeous day!

A couple of reminders before I set today’s writing task…

Times Tables Rock Stars

Well done to all of you that have logged on so far. I can see that some of you have been working hard to increase your total amount of points. If you are yet to login, please do so! It's great fun! If you need your login details, then please ask an adult to email me.

Bug Club

Again, well done to all of the children that have accessed our online reading resource this week. It has been great to see that you are engaging with texts outside of school. By all means keep reading your physical books (I personally prefer holding a book to read), but using Bug Club means that I am able to offer support via our online platform to anyone that may need it.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Continuing to look at chapter four, here is an extract from when Harry learns that he is a wizard.

Hagrid looked at Harry with warmth and respect blazing in his eyes, but Harry, instead of feeling pleased and proud, felt quite sure there had been a horrible mistake. A wizard? Him? How could he possibly be? He'd spent his life being clouted by Dudley, and bullied by Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon; if he was really a wizard, why hadn't they been turned into warty toads every time they'd tried to lock him in his cupboard? If he'd once defeated the greatest sorcerer in the world, how come Dudley had always been able to kick him around like a football?

This is a pivotal moment in the story for Harry Potter. Everything he knew about his life has been turned on upside down. Apart from the questions that have been included in this part of the text, what else do you think Harry could have been thinking at this point in the story?

Write a short diary entry in role as Harry to record your thoughts and feelings. List any questions you might have about your life – this new must have been confusing for Harry.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. If you need me, please contact me via the class blog or as an adult to email me.
