Willow Class Home Learning - Thursday 26/03/2020

Date: 26th Mar 2020 @ 8:36am

Good morning,

I have loved seeing all of your new museum rooms and poems that you have written from yesterday's writing task!

For today's activity, I have attached some photographs of the next four pages of our class book, as some people have struggled to watch the video of myself reading from the start of the week.  Timothy mammoth and Oscar (the boy) have found Teddy mammoth (Timothy's baby brother).  I would like for you to write a diary entry, pretending that you are Timothy - the older mammoth who has been trying to find his brother Teddy throughout the book, as he needs to get him back to his exhibit in the museum before the magic hour is up.

Think about how he felt running through the different parts of the museum and how he now feels after finding Teddy asleep in the Dodo's nest.  Remember to include I, capital letters, full stops, and to join sentences and you could even challenge yourself to use an exclamation mark! or question mark?

I have included an example of a diary entry - mine is quite long but gives you a lot of ideas to help write your own:

Dear Diary,

tonight has been very strange because I had to find my baby brother who escaped from the museum!  I was very worried because I had to find him before the magic hour was up or mum would have been cross with us.  When I was looking for Teddy I made friends with a helpful boy called Oscar.  We looked everywhere in the museum and went into lots of exciting rooms in the museum.  I really enjoyed the Underwater Room because they had cake but I was quite scared of the massive Blue Whale! The Flight Floor was exciting and I even got to fly in an plane to search for my cheeky brother!  I was so happy to find Teddy in the Dodo's nest before the magic hour was up.  Will my mum still be cross with us?

From Timothy

For reception children, as always, feel free to complete the writing task above but I would like to see a drawing of Teddy (the baby brother mammoth) and either phrases or sentences about what he looks like on the outside and what he has acted like - Teddy has long hair/Teddy is a small mammoth/Teddy is cheeky and flew on a plane.

Remember to email if you have any questions - mrsmcilroy@westfieldprimaryschool.com

I look forward to reading your diary entries and writing!
