VE Day 08.05.2020

Date: 8th May 2020 @ 7:00am

Good Morning Oak Class!

It’s VE Day (Victory in Europe Day). On this day, 75 years ago, Winston Churchill (who was the British Prime Minister at the time) announced that the war was over. People rejoiced across all of Europe. However, despite the celebrations, the war wasn’t technically over around the world until several months later.

I am not setting any work today as it has been recognised as a Bank Holiday this year in order to mark this special anniversary. If you want to find out a little more about VE Day, here is a link to a video that contains a gentleman’s recount of his VE Day experience back in 1945.

Davies Household Celebrations

Today, we are planning to have a picnic in our back garden to celebrate – my husband even bought a flag to hang outside our house (everyone on our street has done the same thing). Whatever you are doing today, stay safe and keep smiling. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

I've attached a photo of Isla and I with our flag to this blog post. Please take note of the flowers and lettuce growing behind us – we planted those at the beginning of the lockdown and they are coming along rather nicely now! Proud plant mum alert!

If you need me, please contact me on our class blog or ask an adult to email me. mrsdavies@westfieldprimaryschool.com

Lots of love,
